A costume designer is needed for the Lopez Conservatory Program main stage productions. The Lopez Conservatory Program is an educational youth theater program dedicated to putting up high quality productions for actors age 6 – 18. Position requirements include collaboration with director and fellow creative staff, overseeing of adult costume volunteers and youth costume crew, scheduling/organization of costume fittings and crew nights, purchase of necessary materials, ability to work on a budget and to aid in development of said budget. Previous experience with children and teens is a plus, and young designers looking to build their portfolios are welcome to apply.
Lopez Studios, Inc. is in need of a Technical Director/Designer. Applicants must have training and/or on-the-job experience in technical theater, particularly in design and construction for both set and props. Lighting design experience is not necessary, but is a plus. The Technical Director will work closely with the directors of our Lopez Conservatory Program and must be comfortable and proficient in the following areas:
  • Collaboration with the director(s) to create a simple but impactful set and production-appropriate props.
  • Create and maintain a reasonable budget.
  • Acquire all necessary materials to build the set and props.
  • Organize and lead teams of youth and adult volunteers to safely execute construction of all set and props.
  • Attend preliminary meetings and rehearsals in order to implement props and set pieces as early as possible and monitor their safety and effectiveness.
  • Be available throughout Tech Week to monitor installation of all set and prop pieces, monitor their safety and effectiveness, and head up Strike after the show closes.
The lighting designer (or LD) will work with the director, choreographer, set designer, costume designer, and sound designer to create the lighting, atmosphere, and time of day for our main stage theatre productions. This is a Freelance position!
Lopez Studios, Inc. is also accepting interns ages 12-18 or college students who would love to gain experience in the performing arts or earn community/practicum credits. We are an Official Certifying Organization for the Volunteer Service Awards Program! This means that all intern and volunteer service positions will be acknowledged and validated as volunteer/community service hours towards any school requirement!
